Easy Recipe: Quick Eggnog

My motto used to be “If it didn’t get done in the microwave, it didn’t get done.” I’ve since learned to use my electric oven and its four-burner cooktop. But …

Easy Recipe:  Quick Eggnog

Step 1   Melt a half-gallon of French vanilla ice cream in the refrigerator.

Step 2   Mix in half a pint of bourbon, stir, and chill in the freezer for 45 minutes to an hour. Pour into a punch bowl and sprinkle with nutmeg.

  1. Oh YUM! I love eggnog!

    • Hi Kate, And this one’s soooo easy! Cheers, Ashley

  2. Now that’s the kind of recipe I like!

    • Hi Julie, I served this eggnog at a party awhile back, and everyone thought it had taken hours to prepare. Just make sure you’re using a great ice cream. Cheers, Ashley

  3. Sounds yummy. My husband will love this.

    • Hi Casey, Happy husbands … always good. Cheers, Ashley

  4. You had me at bourbon… This sounds awesome – thank you!

    • You’re very welcome, Madeline. You can play with the quantity of bourbon to suit your own tastes. And, replacing the bourbon with other liqueurs such as Grand Marnier also works. Cheers, Ashley

  5. Wow, that’ my kind of recipe! I have to give this a try…

    • Hi Vickie, It’s a good base recipe to play with. Try replacing the bourbon with different flavored liqueurs. I think garnishing with candied fruits might also work. Cheers, Ashley

  6. How long did it take the ice cream to get melty in the fridge? A couple of hours or so? Just thinking ahead…thanks, they both sound great!

    • Hi Christine, I put the ice cream in the fridge the day before. To speed things up, 30 seconds in the microwave and then a blender run might do the trick. Cheers, Ashley

  7. Oh that sounds delicious. 😛

    • Thank you, Tam. It’s also fun to play with the ice cream and liqueur flavors, too. Cheers, Ashley

  8. Oh my, this sounds wonderful!

    • Thank you so much, Gerri. Have fun with the recipe. It was made for playtime. Cheers, Ashley

  9. Oh, my word. It’s Christmas all year ’round. I can’t wait to slip “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” in the DVD player and curl up with a cup of this lovely non-brew. Cheers!

    • Hope you enjoy the recipe, Dianna. Be sure to try other ice cream flavors during the rest of the year. Cheers, Ashley

  10. You forgot the bit about “take a pillow to the party” Ashley. Recipe sounds yummy, but DEFINITELY knock-you-socks-off!

    • Hi Gloria, Good point! Don’t want any drinking and driving. The recipe works very well if you’re sharing it with neighbors, who can walk home. Or, the alcoholic content can be adjusted down. Cheers, Ashley
