Question of the Week #17: Culture

Question of the Week #17:

There are two types of individuals, cooks and bakers. Bakers measure every ingredient meticulously. Cooks don’t. Which type of individual are you?

My two cents:  I’m a cook–rarely pull out the measuring spoons and cups.



  1. Depends on what I’m cooking. For baked items, I always measure, but for other foods, I often wing it.

    • If you often “wing it”, Casey, you’re definitely a cook. I tend to avoid baking just to avoid measuring. 🙂 Cheers, Ashley

      • depends on what i’m doing. i’m pretty careful when baking but cooking main course stuff, not so much.

  4. Definitely use a cookbook with ingredients and measurements, mostly because I’m not a taster.

  5. If it’s a recipe I’ve never tried, I’ll measure. Sometimes I jusr add what I think is right. If I had to chose, I’d say I was a baker.

    • Hi Gerri, One of my brothers is a baker, too. It’s really fun to see such a variety of cooking styles, even in the same family. Cheers, Ashley
