Favorite Tip #38: Women-owned Small Businesses

Favorite Tip #38:

About 40% of small businesses are owned by women. Whenever the U. S. government creates new regulations or taxes that impact small businesses, the changes impact women. This is a women’s issue. We may wish to pay close attention.

My two cents (but please share yours):

Since 2002, the percentage of women-owned businesses worldwide has been growing at a stunning rate.

  1. In one of my “other” lives I’ve worked at various small businesses, some of them related to manufacturing. I applaud those women (or men) who keep their businesses going by providing much needed services. All too often, when we saw a quote with the phrase “a woman owned business” we discovered a woman’s name was listed as owner but she was not the person actually managing the business; her name was used for the government advantages.
Mind you, those small businesses started by women with clever ideas who figure out how to do it better, faster, and for a better price, have my backing 100%

    • Hi Mona, To a certain extent that may still be true. But many women over 40 are finding it difficult to find jobs after layoffs. They’re starting their own businesses out of pure financial need. I’m with you in applauding their efforts. Cheers, Ashley
