Question of the Week #44 – 2013: Future Technology

When will companels be available on the commercial market?

My two cents (but please share yours):

Actually, an early generation coffee-table version is available now. But I think I’ll wait to buy one–until the price comes down a bunch.

  1. I think I will wait for the table top or wall model until there is some shut off available to they aren’t two way!

    • Good plan, Kay. Although duck tape always works well. 🙂 Cheers, Ashley

  2. Companels? Do you salt and pepper them or add sugar or what?

    • I haven’t heard of edible companels before, David, but it’s an interesting idea. Companels are “smart” walls, or surfaces, made of flat-panel computers. They can be countertops, chair armrests, and table surfaces, even ceilings and floors. I can’t wait for them, because they will replace all the portable electronic gadgets (smartphones, ereaders, etc.) we lug around everyday. Cheers, Ashley

      • Way beyond my level of comprehension.

      • You’re being modest, David. Picture a big-screen flat-panel TV that covers an entire wall and can also function as a computer. Picture a kitchen counter that can be used for cooking or can double as a built-in ereader. Every surface in your home, car, or business can be a flat-panel TV/computer/ereader/smartphone. These are all companels (computer + panel –> companel). Cheers, Ashley
