Easy Recipe: Mix-N-Match BBQ Sauce

My motto used to be “If it didn’t get done in the microwave, it didn’t get done.” I’ve since learned to use my electric oven and its four-burner cooktop. But…

Easy Recipe: Mix-N-Match BBQ Sauce

Step 1   Mix the following.

  • 1c  Ketchup
  • 1/2c  Broth, juice, or wine
  • 1-2T  Brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar
  • 1T  Vinegar, flavored vinegar, lemon juice, orange juice, lime juice, or pineapple juice
  • 1T  Worcestershire, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, or mushroom sauce
  • 1t  Garlic, minced or powder
  • 1t  Onion, minced or powder
  • 1-2t  Herbs of choice
  • 1-2t  Spices and/or mustards of choice
  • 1/2t  Salt
  • 1/2t  Pepper

Step 2   Cover. Microwave for one minute. Stir. Microwave again. Repeat until the sauce is done. Pour it over any entrée or side dish of choice.

Note:  Any sauce cooked in a microwave can lose too much moisture. If this begins to happen, stop the cooking and add a few tablespoons of water. Then you can continue the cooking.

  1. I think I am going to add this to the recipe book!
