Superfood of the Week – Turmeric

Superfood of the Week – Turmeric

What is your favorite recipe that uses this food?

My two cents (but please share yours):

I cook tomatillos with minced onions and garlic in olive oil until they’re soft. Then I puree them in 1/2c water and add 1-2t turmeric powder, 1-2t cumin powder, and 1/4c chopped fresh cilantro to make a Tex-Mex sauce for spaghetti, meat dishes, and enchiladas.

Enjoy.

  1. Sorry, but I don’t even know what turmeric is.

    • Hi David, Turmeric is a spice that has many health benefits (including helping with inflammation) and is worth eating daily. It is commonly used in Indian curry and Tex-Mex dishes. Cheers, Ashley

  2. That sounds wonderful, Ashley!
I have a huge container of Turmeric, which I add to cream pasta.

    • Great way to add flavor and nutrients, Julie. Cheers, Ashley

  3. I add it to homemade chicken noodle soup. Tastes delicious with it.

    • You’re so right on this, Riley. Adding cumin or curry powder along with the turmeric make great variations. Cheers, Ashley
