Something to Think About#5 – 2014

Should smartdust be legal, regulated, or banned?

My two cents (but please share yours):

Smartdust will soon be one of the greatest surveillance-technology threats to our privacy. In light of recent government trust issues, I believe some regulations will be necessary–a rare occurrence for me.

  1. Ashley, I just nominated you for the Shauny Award for Blogging Excellence. Go to Friday or later to see what it’s about.

    • Thank you so much for the nomination, David. I am truly honored. Cheers, Ashley

  2. I have no idea what smartdust is, though.

    • Hi David, Smartdust is a collection of tiny sensors and/or robots that resembles a cloud of dust. It could conceivably follow someone into their home and spy on them without being detected, and it should be available within the next decade or so–a significant privacy issue. Cheers, Ashley
