Superfood of the Week – Strawberries

Superfood of the Week – Strawberries

What is your favorite recipe that uses this food?

My two cents (but please share yours):

Cut up fresh strawberries, sweeten them with a little agave nectar, and allow them to sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Then heat up a couple of puff-pastry toppers in the microwave (20 seconds) and pour the strawberries and their liquid over top. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

Note: To make the toppers, cut up thawed puff-pastry dough into approximately 3″ rectangles. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10-15 minutes, until lightly browned. Allow to cool, and either serve or store them in a plastic bag in the freezer.

  1. I might eat strawberry shortcake, but that’s about all the use I have for strawberries.

    • Strawberry shortcake is an American classic, David! Excellent choice. Cheers, Ashley

  2. Frozen! They’re almost tasteless when completely frozen, then sweet as they start to melt, if you let them sit they get tart as could be!

    • I hadn’t noticed that before, Riley. Thank you. And I’ll keep my agave nectar handy. Cheers, Ashley
