Fall Debt Check – 2014

As we begin a new season, what is the current national debt?

My two cents (but please share yours):

  1. Way, way too much. When the news outlets are happy that we only added a half a trillion to the debt, we have lot sight of just how many dollars are in a trillion. We will never pay it off.

    • You’re so right, Kay. At this point, all we can do is try to grow our way out of this huge sum. Cheers, Ashley

  2. WAY too much…I cringe to even think about it.

    • There are two things we can do about this, CJ. We can stay informed about the debt on a quarterly basis and vote in every election. The link in this picoblog makes the first action item easy. Cheers, Ashley

  3. Somewhere around half the national debt has been incurred since the current occupant of the White House took up residence.

    • You’re so right, David. I believe the numbers went from $10.6T in 2009 to $17.7T in 2014, an increase of over $7 trillion in one administration. This is a serious problem that needs to be fixed as soon as possible. Cheers, Ashley

  4. My eyes are knocking together!

    • After the initial shock, Paul and Paula, this debt clock site turns out to be a great place for up-to-the-picosecond information. Cheers, Ashley
