Question of the Week – 2014 – Post #43

In the USA, Centrists balance social/personal freedoms with economic freedoms equally. How many types of Centrists are there?

My two cents, but please share yours:

I’ve counted three types of Centrists, defined as follows.

Low-Freedom Centrists  = Progressives = Prefer a high number of laws and regulations and:

  • Big Government
  • Big Business/Wall St.
  • Big labor and organizations

Medium-Freedom Centrists = Prefer a moderate number of laws and regulations and:

  • Moderate-size Government
  • Big and Small Businesses
  • Moderate-size organizations

High-Freedom Centrists = Libertarians = Prefer a minimal number of laws and regulations and:

  • Small Government
  • Small Business/Main St.
  • Small organizations and individuals

  1. By your definition, high-freedom centrist would fit me best, although I have nothing against big business.

    • Most high-freedom centrists don’t have anything against big businesses (approx. 20% of job market), David. These centrists just don’t wish to see government regulations trample small businesses as they create 70% of the jobs. Cheers, Ashley
