Easy Recipe: Mix ‘N Match Stratas
Step 1: In a single-serving. microwave-safe bowl, layer up (thin layers) as follows.
- Top layer = Cheese
- Green stuff
- Precooked protein
- Starch
- Spice dusting
- Cheese
- Green stuff
- Precooked protein
- Spice dusting
- Cheese
- Bottom layer = Starch
Step 2: Nuke in the microwave until the cheese is hot and gooey. As always, play with your food. Enjoy.
Italian example:
- Cheese = mozzarella
- Green stuff = fresh basil leaves + thin-sliced Roma tomatoes
- Precooked protein = Italian deli meats or prosciutto or mashed cannelloni beans (V)
- Starch = precooked lasagna noodles or thawed wonton wrappers
- Spice dusting = onion powder + garlic powder + dried basil
French example:
- Cheese = Swiss cheese
- Green stuff = lettuce or spinach
- Precooked protein = bacon or ham or caramelized diced onions (V)
- Starch = precooked puff pastry squares (3″ x 3″ toppers)
- Spice dusting = parsley + tarragon
Tex-Mex example:
- Cheese = cheddar
- Green stuff = fresh cilantro leaves (layer like lettuce) + sliced jalapeno (optional for spice)
- Precooked protein = fajita meat or deli turkey or deli chicken or mashed black beans (V)
- Starch = corn tortilla (about 5″ round)
- Spice dusting = onion powder + garlic powder + cumin + turmeric
