Question of the Week – 2014 – Post #57

When will you generate your daily goals for 2015?

My two cents, but please share yours:

I’m drafting daily goals over the next two weeks, will make a few edits, and then will implement between Christmas and New Year’s. It’s always good to hit January 1 at full speed.

  1. Daily goals? Get up, get some stuff done, check the calendar to see where I need to be, if anywhere…that’s about it!

  2. Sheez, you’re dang ambitious with daily goals! I keep lists, and if I have a free day, I definitely dive in. Most days, with working FT and dealing with life, there’s no time for daily goals…although I do have daily writing goals I try to keep. “Try” being the key word. 🙂

    • Hi CJ, My daily goals are similar to your daily writing goals, except I measure progress in hours instead of pages written or word counts. These goals get turned into a daily schedule of “appointments.” A good day is 80-99% compliance to the schedule. A great day (a rare thing) is 100% compliance. And each day I get to hit the reset button, always a good thing. Cheers, Ashley

  3. I know – we should all set goals. But that’s never worked well for me. Don’t know if it’s innate laziness or lack of organization or what, but I don’t serte goals.

    • Use whichever process works for you, David. Some folks like me need lots of structure. Others work better with an “open floor plan.” Cheers, Ashley
