Favorite Tip #95: Pay Yourself First – Goals

Favorite Tip #95: Pay Yourself First – Goals

Whether you can handle only an hour in the late evening for working on your daily goals or can block out a full ten-hour shift, always “pay yourself first.” Guard this goals time as you would time spent on the day job, and measure your progress each day by calculating and recording the following.

Number of hours (or minutes) worked on goals / Number of hours (or minutes) planned for goals

Start keeping track and build this compliance number to where you’re routinely achieving 80-99% compliance. On the wonderful rare days when you achieve 100% compliance, reward yourself. A piece of dark chocolate works well for this. Enjoy.
