Picoblog Question – 2015 – Post #3
Is respect a one-way or a two-way street?
My two cents, but please share yours:
I believe it is a two-way street. Yes, the other person must behave in a manner that earns respect. But also, each of us must remove any arrogance within us. I start by viewing the other person as an expert in something I don’t know.
Respect is a two way street, you have to give it to get it. I like the way you look at it, everyone is an expert in something you’re not.

Thank you so much, Riley. Often when I meet someone new, their area of expertise doesn’t show. So I focus on figuring that out. It gets the relationship off to a good start. Cheers, Ashley

Definitely a two-way street, and most people react in a positive way to respectfulness. Not all, but most. 🙂

I agree with the two-way street concept except when the other person is a well-known figure. I respect many people who have never heard of me.
