Picoblog Question – 2015 – Post #5

Which is easier, honesty or lying?

My two cents, but please share yours:

Honesty. While lying may be easier in the heat of the moment, honest answers are easier to remember. And there are no trust issues later.

  1. So, so true.

  2. Honesty is easier. 🙂

  3. Most lies, yes, don’t do it. The problem is with the ‘white lie’: told for convenience, or not to hurt feelings in the long run. Unless it’s life or death, occasionally a white lie is easier.

    • A good point, Kay. I agree that kindness and respect should always be seriously considered when it comes to white lies. Cheers, Ashley

  4. You’re absolutely right, Ashley, but I have to agree with Kay Burnett that there are occasions when complete honesty might be hurtful to a loved one.

  5. I remember something of an essay I wrote in high school (funny how our memories work!) The first line was “Men love lies.” Then it went on to explain lies are easier to come up with but in the long run more difficult to remember

    • Sounds like you were a very wise high school student, Mona. Cheers, Ashley

  6. Honesty, honestly. But what about lies of omission and equivocation?

    • Hi Jackie, I believe lies of omission and equivocation are still lies–not good at all. Cheers, Ashley
