Picoblog Question – 2015 – Post #20

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream this month?

My two cents, but please share yours:

With the warmer weather, I’ve been making salted caramel from skim milk, icy and refreshing.

  1. My favorite flavor every month is coffee. It would be nice to find frozen coffee yogurt, but I’ve never seen it anywhere. The frozen yogurt tends to be more icy and less creamy and that suits me well. 🙂

    • Hi Aunt Mary, About six months ago, I bought from Williams Sonoma a single-serving bowl for making ice milk or frozen yogurt in about five minutes. To make frozen coffee yogurt, I thinned out 1/2c plain Greek yogurt with 2T coffee (already cooled and sweetened with 2t of agave nectar). I’m still playing with the ratios for flavor, but it was nice and icy. Give it a try. Cheers, Ashley

  2. salted caramel–ooh, sounds delicious!

My favorite is Blue Bell’s cookies and cream. The timing of this declaration is rather embarrassing, I know.

    • Blue Bell seems to be handling their crisis well, Angelyn. Your cookies and cream will return. Cheers, Ashley

  3. My ice cream is dairy free, but really into Coconut Milk Cherry Amaretto at the moment

    • Coconut Milk Cherry Amaretto sounds incredibly yummy, Lorian! And oh do I need to try out coconut milk as a base in my single-serving freezer bowl. So far I’ve only used skim milk and fat-free plain yogurt as bases. Cheers, Ashley

      • Let me know how it works out.

      • Will do, Lorian. Cheers, Ashley

  4. I’m a fan of Heath Bar Crunch (I think that’s what it’s called – I grab it so automatically that I don’t even read the label) Yum.

    • Absolutely one of my favorites, too, D. Wallace. Cheers, Ashley

  5. I try to stay away from sweets, but when I saw the commercial for the salted caramel truffle blizzard at DQ, I had to try it. Ordered it with chocolate ice cream and it is to die for! I’ve been to DQ too many times this month!

  6. Like Angelyn, mine needs to be Blue Bell. They will get the problem straightened out. Favorite flavor is Dutch Chocolate – any month. Because of diabetes and weight, I tend to stay away from ice cream and eat Blue Bunny sugar-free fudge bars.

    • I agree about Blue Bunny sugar-free–delicious!

      • I agree, too, Angelyn. Cheers, Ashley

    • You’re right about Blue Bell, David, and Blue Bunny is a truly worthy substitute. Cheers, Ashley

  7. Mint chocolate chip, always.

    • Mint chocolate chip is my go-to flavor around Christmastime, Gerri. It’s so wonderfully decadent. Cheers, Ashley

  8. THIS IS MY FAVORITE DRINK SO FAR…BLUBERRIES, RASPBERRIES, STRAWBERRIES, BANANAS, AND RASBERRY ICECREAM. IF IT IS TOO RICH, ADD MIXED BERRIES YOGURT OR A BIT OF COLD WATER. (1/2 CUP OF EACH FRUIT INTO THE BLENDER, AND ONE BANANA!!!!!!!!!) DELICIOUS! ELIZABETH

    • Thank you so much for the recipe, Elizabeth. Berries are perfect all summer long. Cheers, Ashley

  9. I like the one for the coffee yogurt and want to try it. Not to be dense, but what do you put it in to get it to freeze and then to take and serve? I put a yogurt in the freezer and it tasted fine, but eating it was a problem. It was like a large icicle.

    • Hi Paula, Cooking stores like Williams Sonoma carry not only ice cream machines for large batches but also freezer bowls with scrapers for single servings. I have and use both. Cheers, Ashley

      • thank you for the information!

      • You’re very welcome, Paul and Paula. Cheers, Ashley

  10. cinnamon or coffee..wonder how it would work to combine them

    • Give it a try, Mona. Always play with your food. 🙂 Cheers, Ashley
