Picoblog Question – 2015 – Post #32

What is Amendment I of the U.S. Bill of Rights?

My two cents, but please share yours:

“Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

  1. Important to note that it DOES NOT say churches and church leaders cannot speak out on political matters. It just says Congress shall not make laws ESTABLISHING a particular religion.
