Techie Corner – 2015 – Post #11 – Multiple Experiments

Can one experiment establish a truth?

My two cents, but please share yours:

No, scientists require multiple “repeat” experiments, and each one must yield results that are consistent with the original findings.

The same goes for publications. One editor is not sufficient. All technical papers should be subject to extensive and thorough peer reviews by technical experts in that field. And even this may prove insufficient over a short time.

Remember, there’s no such thing as settled science.

  1. I agree, multiples, with all results available…no cherry picking to satisfy the preferred outcome.

  2. Even then, I was recently reminded the only thing ever proved is math equations. All other theories must be revisited when new evidence arrives.
