Picoblog Question – 2015 – Post #37
What does the Declaration of Independence’s “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” mean to you?
My two cents, but please share yours:
- Each individual has the right to own and control their own life and the fruits of their labors. No one, foreign or domestic, may kill, harm, steal from, or enslave this individual.
- It also means that each individual has the right to say what they want to say, do what they want to do, think what they want to think, and believe what they want to believe–with one limitation. In living their life, exercising their liberty, and pursuing their happiness, the individual must not interfere forcibly (by physical means or by law) or coercively with another individual’s rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
