Picoblog Question – 2015 – Post #67
The difference between Capitalism (individual citizens own) and Socialism (government owns) lies in who owns and controls the property. What is this property?
My two cents, but please share yours:
Property = fruits of the individual citizens’ labors = their necessities of life + their luxuries of life
Generally, the necessities of life, including food, water, energy, and shelter, make up by far the largest portion of this property.

And then it’s education, transportation, food preparation and growing of basic food items…and then it’s whatever else the government can control by setting standards that may or may not be reasonable. The more the government takes over, the less the individual has any choices.

So true, Linda. The purpose of government is to protect the people. However, it was never intended to own or control the fruits of their labors. Cheers, Ashley
