Picoblog Question – 2016 – Post #52
What can we do for the police each and every day?
My two cents, but please share yours:
- Pray for the police and their families
- Thank the police and shake their hands whenever you see them
- Tell them you appreciate them whenever you see them
- Obey the speed limits
- Don’t drink and drive
- Don’t text and drive
- Obey every law on the books, large or small, in order to make their jobs easier.
I think it also helps to look at the systemic causes of crime and try to address those: poverty, racism, mental illness, addiction, a proliferation of guns, and fear-mongering. Our police officers become the bandaids on a culture that is increasingly armed and violent, and that’s not fair.

It is always good to examine root causes, D. Wallace. Today, in our Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, we’re hurting. It’s comforting to know there is something we can do right now as individual citizens. Cheers, Ashley

I didn’t realize you are right there. Yes, an immediate expression of care is a great response, for the police and the whole community.

Hi D. Wallace, Thank you so much for your kind words, so appreciated. Actually, several friends who visit with you and me on this picoblog live in the DFW area. Cheers, Ashley
