“Feed a cold and starve a fever.”

– Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales or John Withals 1574 dictionary?

My two cents, but please share yours:

The source for this proverb is unclear. The original, if it can be found, may have been to “stave a fever,” and not “starve a fever.” Either way, it didn’t help much with the cold that’s had me sniffing and coughing all week.
