Favorite Quotes – 2017 – Post #16

My two cents, but please share yours:

It is important for Americans to read and understand fully the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. I recommend reading these two short documents every spring as a way of preparing for the July 4 celebrations.

  1. That’s a wonderful quote. “The pursuit of happiness” is an amazing right and I’m so amazed that they put that in there.

    • Thank you very much, D. Wallace. The word “happiness” used to mean “happenstance.” So pursuing happiness was pursuing one’s fortune. I rather like both the old and new meanings of this phrase. 🙂 Cheers, Ashley

  2. I agree, Ashley. As you know, I posted an exhaustive series on the Constitution last year. I think far too few Americans have as much as an inkling what this document says.
