Techie Corner – 2017 – Post #13 – Think Small Business

According to a recent PwC research article, approximately 38% of U.S. jobs may be taken by robots and AI by the early 2030s. Where will the replacement jobs for humans be created?

My two cents, but please share yours:

The answer is not government or big corporations.

Nearly all growth in the job market over the next fifteen years will come from startups and small businesses.

Unfortunately, the number of small businesses and startups has been decreasing due to high tax and regulatory burdens. Government needs to ease these burdens, and this needs to happen now. Five years from now will likely be too late to prevent a crisis.

Almost every human job (old or new) will require computer coding, mathematics, science, and/or engineering–across all business sectors. If an individual wishes to work and doesn’t have these skills, they should get them, soon. Also, several news outlets recently reported that over half of the schools in this country do not teach computer programming, the number one job skill going forward. Educational institutions will either fix this error or go extinct.
