The Abundance Frontier – 2017 – Post #3

How do we make clean air abundant?

My two cents, but please share yours:

This challenge depends on location. We’ve all seen images of cities, where citizens wear masks to filter out pollutants. Other regions, particularly the mountains, have air so sweet one just wants to inhale forever.

While it’s tempting to solve problems with global, one-size-fits-all solutions, this challenge will more likely be solved at the local level, using solutions tailored to have minimal or no impact on neighboring regions. In many cases, existing pollution control measures will be more than sufficient to yield clean air.

Near-future technologies that may play a role include drones coupled with nanofilters. Early versions of these flying air vacuums will probably be manufactured for use in the home within the next ten years. Later, large-scaled versions may be used in high-pollution zones, perhaps even near volcanic eruptions one day.

  1. I agree. Think global act local.
