Book Corner – 2018 – Post #4

What are you currently reading?

My two cents, but please share yours:

For fiction, I’m reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls for my neighborhood book club.

For nonfiction, I’m just starting SPYCRAFT: Essentials by Piper Bayard and Jay Holmes. Perhaps someday, I’ll use what I learn for writing a story.

  1. Just finished “The Old Merchants of New York City” by Walter Barrett, published in 1865. It was quite interesting to see family names which had been in New York since pre-revolutionary times. Streets were named for them. 🙂

The language has changed since 1865, the usage of some words was quite different.

The book is in *terrible* shape and was given me by the library. They’d received it as a donation, but the condition is too bad, moldy and disintegrating. Therefore, it’s likely I’ll recycle it, which makes me sad. Wish I had someone to share it with. 😦

    • Yes, recycling a book is always sad, Aunt Mary, even when it’s necessary. Hope you find someone who’d like to read your book. Cheers, Ashley
