“Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.”

– William Wordsworth

My two cents, but please share yours:

“It is neither wealth nor splendor; but tranquility and occupation which give you happiness.”

– Thomas Jefferson

Today’s theme = Tranquility

  1. I like what Mr Jefferson said there. 🙂

The word “occupation” is rather wide open, often meaning “job”, but I don’t think that’s quite what Mr J had in mind. IIRC, he had jobs he did not really love, and eagerly seized opportunites to go home to do things there – reading and gardening – which are two of my favorite occupations also.

Not that I didn’t enjoy my “jobs”. At least the last two were delightful.

    • I think you’re right about Mr. Jefferson, Aunt Mary. Cheers, Ashley
