Techie Corner – 2019 – Post #4 – AI vs AGI

What is the difference between AI and AGI?

My two cents, but please share yours:

  • AI = Artificial Intelligence = This is what we have today and in the near future. It includes image recognition, machining learning, etc.
  • AGI = Artificial General Intelligence = This is what AI will evolve into in the more distant future–machines performing intellectual tasks like humans. This is the stuff of science fiction.
  • A third term is Strong AI. Some people use it to refer to AGI. Others reserve this term for when AI evolves to the point of including a conscience.
