Book Corner – 2020 – Post #2
What are you currently reading, and are you enjoying your books?
My two cents, but please share yours:
For fiction, I’m beginning Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult, this month’s selection for my neighborhood book club.
For nonfiction, I’m still studying Great Stories Don’t Write Themselves: Criteria-Driven Strategies for More Effective Fiction by Larry Brooks. It’s good so far, but this book may take me several months to finish.
“The Black Border” – Gullah stories of the Carolina coast, by Ambrose E. Gonzales – written in the 1920s.
Fascinating, and challenging to read as it is in Gullah dialect which is very tricky. Even though I grew up hearing it I never really understood it because the black people I knew spoke “English” when they were speaking to white people.
