Writer’s Corner – 2020 – Post #2

What is the most important question a writer can ask?

My two cents, but please share yours:

What does my reader want to read in this scene I’m about to write?

In the midst of writing a scene, it’s so easy for us to get lost in characters’ goals, motivations, and conflicts, in pacing scenes and sequels, in developing emotions and microtension on every page. After taking endless classes, we can all juggle writing tools and rhetorical devices like best-selling authors.

But all that matters is whether our reader benefits, whether they have fun.
